Giant congenital nevocellular nevus and natal teeth.

چکیده
Congenital nevocellular or nevomelanocytic nevi (CNN) are considered to be hemartomatous lesions of melanocytes apparent at birth(l-3). Though CNN has an incidence of 1% of all newborns, its spectacular variantthe giant or bathing trunk nevus is extremely rare, occuring once in 5,00,000 live births(l). Giant CNN is of devastating consequence due to the cosmetic disfigurement and the great risk for malignant transformation. We report a neonate presenting at birth with giant CNN and natal teeth and the problems in management of such cases.

Congenital giant nevocellular nevus of the back with deep extension to the fat and fascia.
The presence of deep pigmentation in a giant congenital nevus makes its complete removal very difficult and should be taken into consideration when planning for treatment. A clinical case in which the pigmented lesion was found to extend deep into the muscle fascia is described. The lesion was surgically removed with an acceptable functional and aesthetic result through the utilization of tissu...
متن کاملCongenital Melanocytic Nevi and the Risk of Malignant Melanoma: Establishing
Congenital melanocytic nevi (CMN) are benign proliferations of cutaneous melanocytes clinically apparent at birth or within the first postnatal weeks (Walton et al., 1976). At least 2.5% of white infants are noted to have some type of pigmented lesion at birth, but only 1% have biopsy-confirmed nevocellular nevi (Walton et al., 1976). Prevalence of CMN ranges from 0.2% to 2.7% in lesions less t...
متن کاملAcute Inhibition of MEK Suppresses Congenital Melanocytic Nevus Syndrome in a Murine Model Driven by Activated NRAS and Wnt Signaling
Congenital melanocytic nevus (CMN) syndrome is the association of pigmented melanocytic nevi with extra-cutaneous features, classically melanotic cells within the central nervous system, most frequently caused by a mutation of NRAS codon 61. This condition is currently untreatable and carries a significant risk of melanoma within the skin, brain, or leptomeninges. We have previously proposed a ...
متن کاملEpidermal nevus syndrome: Report of a giant linear epidermal nevus
Linear epidermal nevi frequently follow the lines of Blaschko and may be confused with the verrucous stage of incontinentia pigmenti. Inflammatory epidermal nevus appears as a line array of pink to red papules usually on the lower limb (Buttock and hip) clinically resembling psoriasis or eczematous dermatitis. But inflammatory epidermal nevus has distinct histopathologic features. We report a c...
متن کاملCongenital fibrous epulis associated with natal teeth
Congenital fibrous epulis is a very rare benign gingival tumor in infants. Its exact etiology remains unknown. The past literature showed that there was no other abnormality around or in the tumors in their mouths. In our clinic we found seven cases of congenital fibrous epulis and all the cases had one or two natal teeth in the tumors. We described the clinical and histopathologic characterist...
